History
In 2012, Jonah Blackwell, a senior at Coppell High School, took his own life. That year, a group of high school juniors founded Run for Life to honor his memory. It has since been a tradition to hand down the run to a group juniors of the following year. Our mission is simple: raise suicide awareness and raise money which will go directly to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Collectively, Run for Life has raised over $15,000 for the AFSP. By participating in Run for Life, you not only honor Jonah Blackwell's life, but also celebrate life of all manners. Help us spread this message across the community so that we may never again experience the tragedy of suicide.
Our Recent Success
Thanks to the support of the Coppell community and generous contributions from our sponsors, the 2015 Run for Life team was able to raise over $4,000 for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Suicide awareness is important for high school students and Coppell citizens alike, many of whom have been impacted directly by teen suicide in our own Coppell Community. At the event, we also had such speakers as Mrs. Peggy Marshall, the representative from The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and Clint Blackwell, Jonah Blackwell’s brother. The rest of the Blackwell family was also able to attend, a presence which we consider a great honor.
